The verdict

’TO BE OR NOT TO BE’ is probably the apt phrase that one would like to use in current context; i.e. whether to be or not to be out of one’s home. Why???? Because of the awaiting verdict of Honorable High court, Lucknow on the most controversial & disputed Ramjanmabhoomi and Babari mosque site case.

The disputed Ramjanmbhoomi - Babari mosque site has been contentious for over a hundred years now. Needless to comment that the trial is moving at a snail’s pace. And now in this month it seems or at least the environment has been created that the verdict will be delivered by the High court. It was first scheduled on 24^th of this month, then postponed to 28^th and now it is to be on 30^th September 2010 at 3.30 pm. So all these days the morning ritual of everyone is to first go through the newspapers or news channels not to know about the daily weather or horoscope but to know the exact date of the judgment and decide whether it is safe to leave ‘Home Sweet Home’ and the dear family members for job sake (or other reasons) on the day of the verdict. Who knows that the farewell bid today will be the final see off to the near and dear
ones! Such is the terror of the verdict in the minds of people. The wave of panic has been deeply rooted in the minds of the common man about the communal riots that took place after the original incident. Everyone fears the public reaction on the judgment.

As of today no one knows what the decision will be; or favoring which party for that matter; but the concern is what will be the outcome then? Whatever the VERDICT; on whichever side it may be; I would like to pray for a safe India. I just pray and pray that this trial should not be made an election issue by the politicians. Our history says that British conquered and ruled India simply because of the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy on religious grounds. And now when we have got independence and enjoy saying that we are the biggest secular democracy in the world, then why do we allow the Indian politicians to follow the same old tactics to rule us? Why? I ask why? Really the question lingers in my mind are our Indian politicians really better than the British? What actually is the difference in todayz independent India and the India under British Raj?

All we can do I guess is nothing but to blindly and wholeheartedly pray to the almighty that let this Ayodhya trial give rise to a true statesman who has got the vision to see for the next generation and not trivial, baseless politicians whose vision is simply on the next election.
